How to Replace the Jackson Conserver XL-E Drain Solenoid

Supplies Needed:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • 3/8 socket wrench
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Side cutter
  • Zip ties
  • Rubber gloves
  • Safety glasses

Procedure

  • Step 1. Turn off the unit and water supply - Power down the unit by switching off the circuit breaker. Then, close the valve to the water supply line.
  • Step 2. Remove the front panel - Remove the front dress panel to access the drain solenoid.
  • Step 3. Remove the the drain solenoid box cover - Locate the drain solenoid box and remove the box cover.
  • Step 4. Clip the zip ties and disconnect the wire - Clip the zip ties to release the wires connected to the drain solenoid. Then, disconnect both wires.
  • Step 5. Take off the drain link - Remove the cottering pin to disconnect the drain link.
  • Step 6. Remove the mounting nuts - Use a 3/8 socket wrench to remove the lower mounting nuts and upper mounting nut.
  • Step 7. Remove the old drain solenoid and reinstall the new one - Slide the old drain solenoid out of its housing. Then, place the new drain solenoid in position.
  • Step 8. Reinstall the mounting nuts and wires - Replace the top mounting nut and tighten the lower mounting nuts. Reconnect the wires. Each black wire can be connected to either white wire.
  • Step 9. Reinstall the drain link - Reconnect the drain link using the cottering pin.
  • Step 10. Secure the wires - Using a new zip tie, gather and secure the wires. Clip off any excess.
  • Step 11. Replace the solenoid box cover and front dress panel - Replace the drain solenoid box cover. Then, replace the front dress panel.
  • Step 12. Restore power and water to the unit - Restore power at the circuit breaker. Then, open the valve to the water supply line.
