How to Adjust a Master-Bilt Walk-In Cooler or Freezer Sweep Gasket
Over time, gaskets and seals will wear out, causing your refrigeration equipment to struggle to keep cool. Rather than letting cold air escape and your product spoil, provide your equipment with the routine maintenance it needs. This guide will walk you through how to adjust a Master-Bilt walk-in cooler or freezer sweep gasket so your unit stays at the perfect temperature.
The following steps are applicable to most Master-Bilt walk-in units. This includes models such as QS Series, Ready-Bilt and Bilt2Spec.
Sweep Gasket Adjustment
The sweep gasket on a Master-Bilt walk-in should be adjusted after initial installation or after long-term use due to wear.
- Step 1. Assess the sweep gasket and gap - Before adjusting, inspect the sweep gasket to determine if it needs to be raised or lowered. If you notice it’s damaged, replace it immediately.
- Step 2. Loosen the sweep gasket - Loosen the attachment screws to make moving the gasket easier.
- Step 3. Adjust the sweep gasket - Lower or raise the gasket by pulling on it. You’ll want the lower lip of the gasket to brush the threshold or floor once you’re done adjusting.
- Step 4. Secure the sweep gasket - Tighten the attachment screws to secure the sweep gasket.
- Step 5. Test the door - Let the door close to verify the sweep gasket has been adjusted to the right height.
