Bunn Ambient Coffee Dispenser Troubleshooting & Error Codes

A Bunn Ambient coffee dispenser is perfect for any self-service station in hotels, offices and cafeterias. They allow your guests to easily grab a piping hot drink of their choice and can be quickly refilled by your staff. Because of the convenience they provide, it’s important to quickly solve any issues that could arise with your unit. If you’re noticing an error code or LED light, find out its meaning and troubleshoot the problem quickly.

This troubleshooting guide is applicable for LCA-1, LCA-2, LCA-2A, LCA-2 PC, LCC-2 and LCA-2 LP models.

LCA-1 Error Codes

Error Code: E_01

Error: “Pump error”
Description: Motor or RPM sensor failure
Solution: Have motor and RPM sensor wires checked for shorts, open connections or if they’re loose

Error Code: E_02

Error: “Heating time too long”
Description: Tank heater has been on continuously for more than 1 hour
Solution: Have heater wires checked for open or loose connections

Error Code: E_03

Error: “Fill time too long”
Description: Fill valve has been on continuously for more than 15 minutes, or the refill valve is disconnected or faulty
Solutions:
- Check that the water valve is turned off
- Check the refill valve for damage or loose connections

Error Code: E_04

Error: “Tank temp sensor error”
Description: Sensor reading is out of range
Solution: Have sensor wires checked for open or loose connections

Error Code: E_05

Error: “Dispense time too long”
Description: The Dispense or Hot Water switch has been on for more than 2 minutes
Solutions:
- Check the switches for damage
- Have the door harness checked for shorts

Error Code: E_08

Error: “Water temp too hot”
Description: Water temperature in the tank is greater than 205°F (96°C)
Solutions:
- Have tank heater harness checked for shorts
- Have heater relay checked to make sure it’s on
- Have heater element checked and replaced if necessary

Front Panel LED Display Troubleshooting Messages

Message	Meaning	Problem	Solution
Power LED is OFF	No AC power	Unit isn’t plugged in Circuit breaker is off	Plug unit into power source Check the breaker
Ready LED is OFF	Water temperature is too low	Usage has exceeded the capacity of the tank heater	Check the tank temperature and the ready temperature settings Contact an authorized service technician
Rinse LED is ON	Rinse timer	Dispenser needs to undergo a rinse cycle	Follow the rinse procedure for the dispenser
Rinse LED is FLASHING	Rinse lockout has been enabled	Dispenser has been locked out; rinse cycle required	Follow the rinse procedure for the dispenser
Left refill LED is ON	Left BIB is empty	BIB concentrate is empty BIB isn’t connected properly Tubing is blocked or kinked “Empty BIB Warning” is set too high	Replace BIB Check BIB connections and fittings Check the tubing Check the “Empty BIB Warning” setting and change if necessary
Right refill LED is ON	Right BIB is empty	BIB concentrate is empty BIB isn’t connected properly Tubing is blocked or kinked “Empty BIB Warning” is set too high	Replace BIB Check BIB connections and fittings Check the tubing Check the “Empty BIB Warning” setting and change if necessary
Left refill LED is FLASHING	“Empty BIB Lockout’ is enabled	Left dispenser won’t operate	Replace BIB
Right refill LED is FLASHING	“Empty BIB Lockout’ is enabled	Right dispenser won’t operate	Replace BIB
All LEDs are FLASHING	Fault has been detected	Fault is present internally	Check the fault message by removing the lower splash guard to find it. Check the Diagnostics section of your user manual and follow recommendations. Once the fault has been corrected, hold the STOP button for 10 seconds to clear the message

LCA-2 LP Error Codes

Error Code: EC 001

Error: “Left (regular) pump failure”
Description: Left motor or RPM sensor has failed
Solution: Have motor and RPM sensor wires checked for shorts, open connections if they’re loose

Error Code: EC 002

Error: “Right (decaf) pump failure”
Description: Right motor or RPM sensor has failed
Solution: Have motor and RPM sensor wires checked for shorts, open connections if they’re loose

Error Code: EC 003

Error: “Heating time too long”
Description: Tank heater has been on continuously for more than 1 hour
Solution: Have heater wires checked for open or loose connections

Error Code: EC 004

Error: “Fill time too long”
Description: Fill valve has been on continuously for more than 15 minutes, or the refill valve is disconnected or faulty
Solutions:
- Check that the water valve is turned off
- Check the refill valve for damage or loose connections

Error Code: EC 007

Error: “Tank temp sensor error”
Description: Sensor reading is out of range
Solution: Have sensor wires checked for open or loose connections

Error Code: EC 010

Error: “Switchboard failure”
Description: Main control board is unable to communicate with the switchboard in the door
Solution: Have switchboard inspected and repaired or replaced if necessary
