When your Bizerba scale starts acting like an enraged toddler and refuses to get along with you or staff, putting it in a timeout unfortunately won’t solve the problem. Whether it's screaming error codes, not using its words or has stopped cooperating altogether, we have a cheat sheet on Bizerba scale troubleshooting and error codes to help you get to the bottom of its tantrum.

Bizerba Scale Error Codes: NCR 7870

These troubleshooting and error codes correspond to Bizerba NCR 7870 model scale.

Issue

Solution

Error Code 5

The scale has drifted 

  • Double check there is nothing on the scale
  • Remove any objects that have lodged underneath the top plate 
  • Push Reset/Scale Zero button 
  • Turn the unit off and on 
  • If the error code persists, please contact an authorized service agent

Error Code 4

There is a possible error 


Press the Zero button. If error priests, please contact an authorized service technician

Error Code 4 (during calibration)

The scale experienced movement or vibration during its calibration


Recalibrate your scale on a stable surface, ensuring you don’t bump or move the scale while weights are present

Blank Display

The top plate is stuck 

  • Check that the top plate and checkstand don’t hit any external objects during the operation
  • Remove any objects that have lodged underneath the top plate
  • Push the reset/scale button

Recurring Error Codes 

The +VDC is unstable

Scanner Troubleshooting Chart

  • Check that the interface cable is properly connected

There is an internal failure

  • Turn the circuit breaker to the scanner on and off
  • If the problem persists, please contact an authorized service technician


Scanner reading only two tags

The scanner is not talking to the host terminal

  • Check that the host terminal is working correctly
  • Check that the interface cable is properly connected

Voice Messages Troubleshooting Chart

No voice messages

The scale does not come with the voice messaging feature

  • Power scale off and on 
  • Scan the Diagnostic Mode tag
  • Scan the Hex 4 and Hex A tags 
  • The firmware version will appear 


Note: The firmware version must be 497-0301951 or higher to have the voice messaging feature

No voice messages

The voice messages option is turned off

  • Turn scale off and on
  • Scan the Programming Mode tag
  • Scan the Hex 3, Hex 2 and Hex D tags

Blank display

  • The scale is not plugged in 
  • The scale is not turned on 
  • The display setting’s brightness or contrast are too low
  • Plug in power cord to the correct outlet
  • Press standby/reset key 
  • Turn on scale 
  • Change display settings

Only lower half of screen displays


The scale is in its underload range because the preload is missing or the platter is stuck


  • Properly install the load plate
  • Remove any foreign objects touching or below the load plate
  • Reset scale to zero

Only upper half of screen displays
Printer doesn’t work


The scale is in its overload range because the scale’s weighing capacity has been exceeded

  • Remove the item from the load plate 
  • Level the scale
  • Turn scale on and off


iS10 & SC II Series


Printer doesn’t work


  • The print bar is open 
  • The receipt or label paper is jammed or misinstalled


  • Close the print bar 
  • Check that the receipt or label paper is properly seated

Weight value is fluctuating
  • The load plate is not seated correctly 
  • External objects are touching the scale
  • The scale is dirty 
  • The scale is not level
  • Vibrations or a draft is interfering with the readings 
  • The item was moving during its weigh-in
  • Make sure load plate is seated correctly 
  • Remove external objects 
  • Clean the scale 
  • Level the scale 
  • Move the scale to a more stable location

Note: Call Bizerba customer service to change the parameter settings

Incorrect weight value


  • The item is incorrectly seated on the scale
  • An external object is interfering with the scale’s readings
  • Place item in the center of the scale 
  • Make sure there is no other objects touching the scale

The digital load receptor has been disconnected
 

Check that the digital load receptor is properly connected

The computer authentication failed

  • Connect the load cell used to calibrate the scale
