Troubleshooting a Blendtec Blender

Blendtec Blenders can create delicious smoothies, coffees, milkshakes and more with any of their high-tech blending models. If you are having any trouble with one of your blenders, check out our guide below on troubleshooting and identifying any problems. We have included multiple sections on different errors that you could have while using a Blendtec blender.

Blender Motor Will Not Turn On

  • Check the main screen for power - Ensure that the digital screen isn’t lit up. Make sure that your machine is correctly plugged into a power source.
  • Main power switch is on - Make sure the main power switch is in the ON position.
  • Check the circuit breaker - Check your circuit breaker switch or fuse to make sure it is set to the ON position.
  • Unplug the blender and replug - Unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait 5 minutes and then plug it back into the outlet.

Blended Texture Unsatisfactory

  • Prevent air pockets - If the drink mix is too cold or too solid it can form air pockets where the blades spin freely. To solve any air pocket issues, increase the mix temperature by reducing ice, increasing liquids or ensuring that frozen ingredients are never colder than 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 degrees Celsius).
  • Try increasing cycle time - If the drink hasn’t had enough time to fully blend and mix the ingredients, try increasing the cycle time. Either try a longer cycle or press and hold the Pulse button for any extra blending time.

Noise Level Changes

  • Blender motor noise - Remove the blender jar and press the Pulse button. Listen to the motor and if it is excessively noisy contact a Blendtec service technician to evaluate the motor.
  • Blender jar noise - if the motor is not making excess noise, it could be the jar. Place the jar back on the motor and press the Pulse button for a few seconds. If the jar is excessively noisy contact a Blendtec service technician.
  • Check the blade assembly - Turn the blade assembly by hand and if it seems loose or sounds “gravelly” contact a Blendtec service technician.

Error Code Message on Display

  • Overload Error or “E-02” - The motor is overloaded when you see this error. Remove the jar from the blender, check for any blockage and clear it out. Return the jar to the blender base, then use the Pulse button to quickly pulse the blades. If the blade spins freely, then a programmed button may be used. If your blender fails to start after following these steps, contact a Blendtec service technician for assistance.
  • Overtemp Error or “E-01” - This error message happens when the motor has overheated. The blender has been disabled until it cools down to a normal temperature. Turn off and unplug the blender, allowing it to cool for at least 20 minutes.
  • Reset Error or “E-05” - The reset error happens when there is a permanent failure of the blender electronics. Contact a Blendtec service technician to assist with this error.
  • No Zero Crossing Error or “E-04“ -  This message happens when there is a failure of a component on the electronic board. Contact a Blendtec service technician for repair/replacement.
