A Southbend Range 3738-2 Probe senses water conditions to maintain proper system function during use.
The probe monitors the steamer's minimum water level and signals the control system when refill or low-water protection is needed to keep operation safe and consistent. Its 4.25-inch sensing length and low-level design matter because they place detection at the correct point in the water system, preventing dry-fire conditions and supporting reliable steam production.
The probe may need replacement if the steamer shows erratic low-water warnings, inconsistent filling, shutdowns during operation or reduced steam output caused by inaccurate level sensing. Physical or environmental signs can include mineral scale buildup, corrosion, pitting, discoloration or moisture-related residue on the probe surface or connection area, which could interfere with proper detection.
