Globe S-Series Slicer Troubleshooting
Globe S-Series slicers cut and slice food quickly and efficiently. Although issues with these units are rare, this Globe S-Series slicer troubleshooting guide will help you resolve issues such as the unit not turning on, not cutting properly and more.
These instructions are for Globe S-Series slicer S13, S13A, SG13 and SG13A models.
Slicer Won’t Turn On
- The power cord is unplugged - Plug the cord into an electrical outlet.
- Knife cover is off or not installed properly - Install the knife cover properly. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions.
- Overload reset button is tripped - Press the button beneath the slicer to reset the unit.
- Carriage is out of its home position - Pull the carriage toward you until it comes to the home position.
- Carriage is titled - Secure carriage in the proper position.
- Cleaning timer has been activated - Follow the cleaning instructions in the operator’s manual or in our Globe S-Series slicer cleaning video.
Unit Stopped Working (Models SG13 & SG13A only)
- Motion timeout is enabled, and there has been no carriage movement in the specified time - Increase the amount of idle time allowed until timeout begins.
- Carriage release knob closed - Adjust the carriage release knob and select START.
Slicer Won’t Slice
- Knife blade is dull - Sharpen the blade by following the instructions in the manual or watching our step-by-step video on how to clean a Globe S-Series slicer.
- Knife gauge plate is too wide - Call an authorized technician to adjust the gauge plate.
- Knife is chipped - Schedule an appointment with an authorized technician to resolve the issue.
- Knife is too small - Contact a service technician to remedy the issue.
Knife Is Scraping Against Something
- Knife is scraping against the knife cover - Lock the knife cover release lever.
- Knife is rubbing against the carriage - Tighten or adjust the carriage knob to secure the carriage.
- Knife is scratching against the gauge plate - Call an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
Knife Is Hard To Sharpen
- Sharpening stones are dirty, wet or greasy - Clean the stones with warm water and a brush. After allowing the stones to air dry, apply Globe lubricating oil to the shafts.
- Knife is dirty - Clean the top and bottom of the knife.
- Stones are worn - Replace the stones.
- Stones aren’t properly aligned - Adjust the sharpener.
