Have you ever wondered how to start a Pitco gas fryer? Whenever the pilot light goes out, you’ll want to know the proper way to light it again. Pitco Millivolt fryers require the pilot to be lit manually. At Parts Town, we want to show you how to do this properly and safely. Follow our guide below to get your Pitco Millivolt SG fryer up and running smoothly.

Lighting the Millivolt Fryer’s Pilot Light

  • Step 1. The gas valve has three positions: ON, OFF, & PILOT. Turn the gas valve dial, or pilot knob, to PILOT.
  • Step 2. Push & hold the valve’s button for 15-30 seconds.
  • Step 3. While continuing to hold down the valve’s button, light the pilot. You should see a blue flame appear.
  • Step 4. Once you see this flame, continue holding the valve button for another 15 seconds.
  • Step 5. Turn the gas valve dial to ON & check the flame to ensure the flame grew to be slightly larger.
  • Step 6. Adjust the thermostat to your desired cooking temperature and you’re ready to go.

If the pilot still isn't lighting, contact an authorized technician to check for any issues or if the unit wasn't installed properly.

Adjusting the Pilot Flame

Be sure to adjust the pilot flame to produce the proper millivolt output from the pilot sensing device. It’s recommended that the millivolt output for the thermopile be between 300 and 500 millivolts.

Turning Off the Pilot Light

When the time comes to shut everything down for the day, you may decide to turn off the pilot light on your fryer. Should you want to do this, you can push the pilot knob to “PILOT” then slightly push it in and turn the knob to  “OFF” and turn to close the gas supply valve.
