- Step 1. Turn off power to the machine – Unplug the refrigerator or freezer, making sure to cut all power to the machine before starting any cleaning or maintenance.
- NOTE: Remove any food and store in another cooler until finished cleaning.
- Step 2. Remove the shelves inside - Gently remove the interior shelves and set them aside for cleaning. Place them in the sink to handle at a later step.
- Step 3. Clean the interiors of the cabinet – Start with wiping the interior surfaces of the cabinet with a solution of warm water and mild detergent. This will remove any odors from any previous spillage.
- Step 4. Scrub stuck-on stains – Using a scrub pad or sponge, scrub any stains or liquid from the interior areas. Be sure to get off any stuck-on stains to prevent build-up.
- Step 5. Clean the gasket – Wipe down the door gasket with warm water and mild detergent. Be sure to thoroughly dry it with a dry cloth. This ensures that the door will properly seal and maintain a cold temperature.
- Step 6. Clean the door with glass cleaner – Spray the glass door with glass cleaner and wipe it down with a cleaning cloth. Be sure to wipe off any excess cleaner to prevent streaking or spots on the glass.
- Step 7. Wipe down the exterior – Use warm water and a mild detergent to spray on the exterior of the cabinet. Use a cloth to wipe it down, making sure to wipe away any stains or fingerprints.
- Step 8. Cleaning the shelves – Wash the interior shelves in a sink with warm water and a mild detergent. Use a brush or scrub pad to help remove any stuck-on stains or grime. Thoroughly rinse and dry your shelves for best practices.
- Step 9. Reinstall interior shelves – Take your clean, dried interior shelves and replace them back inside the unit.
- Step 10. Connect the refrigerator back to power – Reconnect your unit to the power outlet and allow the temperature to get back to cooler levels. Put the previously removed food items back into your refrigerator unit.
