Nor-Lake Gasket Replacement Procedures
Nor-Lake coolers keep foods and beverages at the proper temperature. Although issues with these units are rare, over time the gasket can start to crack, weakening the seal around the door. If you need to maintain your unit, this set of Nor-Lake gasket replacement procedures will help you change your cooler’s door gasket quickly and easily.
This set of instructions is for Nor-Lake Kold Locker, BB Back Bar and BC Bottle coolers.

Gasket Replacement Instructions
Removing the Old Gasket
- Step 1. Empty the unit - Before removing the old gasket, turn off the unit, unplug the power cord and transfer the food products to another refrigeration unit.
- Step 2. Remove the door (Kold Locker units only) - If replacing the gasket on a Kold Locker unit, remove the door and place it exterior-face down, gasket up, on a clean, smooth surface. Refer to the "Door Assembly Removal" section in the manual for detailed instructions. For all other models, skip this step.
- Step 3. Remove the old gasket - Grasp the gasket at one of the corners and pull the dart out of the groove. Pull slowly and carefully so that the dart doesn’t break off and get stuck in the groove. Once the dart is out, continue pulling to remove the gasket.
- Step 4. Clean the groove - Use warm water, mild detergent and a clean cloth to clean the groove.
Installing the New Gasket
- Step 1. Soak the gasket - Soften the new gasket by placing it in a sink or large bin full of warm water for 5-10 minutes. After soaking the gasket, dry it with a clean cloth.
- Step 2. Cover a mallet with masking tape - Put masking tape on the face of a mallet so you can pound the gasket without smudging it.
- Step 3. Install a corner - Install one of the gasket corners by first inserting the dart-shaped projection into the groove and then using a mallet to pound the gasket and push the dart in even more. Once the dart is in place, push in about two inches (5.08 cm) of the gasket on either side of the corner.
- Step 4. Install the other corners - Use the same procedure to push the other three corners of the gasket into the groove.
- Step 5. Position the middle of each side - At the four midway points between the corners, push in about two inches (5.08 cm) of the gasket. Use the same procedure as with the corners.
- Step 6. Pound the gasket into place - After pushing the remaining parts of the gasket into the groove, use a mallet to hammer the gasket fully into place.
- Step 7. Check the gasket for proper installation - Lift the base on the outer edge of the gasket and examine the gasket to make sure the darts are positioned properly. If one or more darts are not engaged, use a small, slotted screwdriver to tuck the dart into the slot.
- Step 8. Reinstall the door (Kold Locker units only) - After replacing the gasket on a Kold Locker unit, reinstall the door. Reverse the instructions in the "Door Assembly Removal" section.
- Step 9. Restock unit - Return the food products to the unit, plug in the power cord and turn the unit on.
