How to Clean a Bunn Coffee Pot
If you want your coffee to always taste fresh you need to clean out any build-up in the pot. You will want to routinely clean your coffee pot to prevent any build-up and keep it sparklingly clean. Below we have a short guide on cleaning your Bunn coffee pot. It also includes information on residential pots and commercial coffee pots as well. It is always a good idea to check your specific model’s manual on any recommended cleaning products and procedures.
Cleaning Tools
- Soft cleaning cloths
- Mild detergent
- Warm water
- White vinegar
Residential Coffee Pot
- Mild soap solution - The simplest cleaning method would be using mild soap mixed with warm water to clean the pot. Use a soft cloth to really clear away any build-up. You want to use a soft cloth and nothing abrasive. Stay away from steel wool and other harsh tools. Be sure you are rinsing the soap away thoroughly so it does not end up in your coffee.
- Dishwasher method - If you want to make it easier on yourself for home coffee pots, place them in the dishwasher and run the machine with your regular dishes. If your coffee pot has stuck-on stains try soaking it in warm water before running it through the dishwasher.
- Baking soda & vinegar - Use one part baking soda and one part vinegar mixture to clean the inside. This method will help with burnt-on coffee stains in the pot. Using a soft cloth you want to gently rub the mixture on the inside of the carafe. Rinse that out and then follow up by washing the coffee pot with mild soap and warm water. Be sure to keep washing it if there is any leftover vinegar smell. Rinse and dry the pot to finish.
Commercial Coffee Pot

- Basic cleaning - The easiest and fastest method of cleaning your commercial coffee pot is by hand washing with warm, soapy water. Use a soft washcloth or sponge to wash the inside. Thoroughly rinse and dry the coffee pot to prevent any soap or water from being left behind. If you have hard water you will find that you need to clean the coffee pot and your machine more frequently.
- White vinegar - You use white vinegar and water to descale the machine but you can also use it to remove any stains that build on the coffee pot. You will want to mix one part vinegar and one part water and let it soak in the pot. Drain and then follow up by washing out the vinegar with warm water and soap until there is no vinegar smell. Vinegar also removes any odor leftover from previous coffee brewing.
