How to Clean a Stove Top with Shaving Cream

  • Step 1—If cleaning a gas stove, remove grates and set aside.
  • Step 2—Use a damp paper towel to remove any large food particles from the stove top
  • Step 3—Spray shaving cream on top of stove top and spread it across the surface.
  • Step 4—Use a non-abrasive sponge to scrub the stove top to remove food particles
  • Step 5—For difficult to clean places, add more shaving cream and scrub again.
  • Step 6—When done scraping, wipe the stove top with a clean, damp cloth to remove shaving cream residue and any leftover food particles.
  • Step 7—When finished, dry stove top with a clean cloth.

How to Clean a Stove Top with Baking Soda and Vinegar

  • Step 1—If cleaning a gas stove, remove grates and set aside.
  • Step 2—Use a damp paper towel to remove any large food particles from the stove top
  • Step 3—Make a paste by combining ¼ cup vinegar and ½ cup baking soda (1:2 vinegar to baking soda) along with a few drops of dish soap.
  • Step 4—Spread paste on the surface of the stove top. Let the paste sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Step 5—Use a soapy sponge to scrub the paste off the stove top. This will help remove burned-on food.
  • Step 6—Wipe up released food particles, baking soda paste, and soap suds with a damp cloth.
  • Step 7—If there are any remaining food particles or stains, add more baking soda paste, let it sit, and then scrub again.
  • Step 8—When you are done cleaning the stove top, use a clean cloth to dry the surface.

How to Clean Stove Grates with Vinegar

  • Step 2—Fill a shallow pan with a mixture of equal parts warm water and white vinegar.
  • Step 3—Place the grates in the shallow pan and soak in the mixture for 30 minutes.

  • Step 5—Rinse the grates, dry with a clean cloth and return them to the stove top.

  • Step 4—Use a sponge to scrub the grates.
  • Step 5—Rinse the grates, dry with a clean cloth and return them to the stove top.
  • Step 6—Repeat if necessary.
