Samsung refrigerators are known for their quality and dependability. Since proper maintenance is critical, this Samsung refrigerator cleaning guide gives instructions on how to clean your unit thoroughly so it stays in good working condition.

Supplies List

  • Soft Sponges
  • Clean Cloths
  • Mild Detergent
  • Warm Water
  • Vacuum Cleaner (rear panel)

NOTE: Remember to disconnect the power before cleaning your refrigerator.

Removing the Shelves, Drawers and Bins

  • Step 1. Empty the refrigerator - After disconnecting the power, remove all the food from the refrigerator.
  • Step 2. Take out the door bins - Pull out the door bins by grabbing them with both hands and then lifting up and away from the refrigerator door.
  • Step 3. Remove the shelves - Detach the shelves by lifting them up and then sliding them out of the refrigerator.
  • Step 4. Remove the drawers - Take out the drawers by pulling them out and then lifting up.

Cleaning the Interior

  • Step 1. Clean the inside walls - Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth to wipe the interior walls.
  • Step 2. Clean the accessories - Wipe the shelves, drawers and bins with a soft sponge or cloth and warm, soapy water.
  • Step 3. Wipe away soap suds - Remove any remaining soap or food residue with a damp cloth.
  • Step 4. Dry the interior and accessories - Use a clean cloth to dry the interior walls, shelves, drawers and bins.
  • Step 5. Reinstall the accessories - Return the shelves, drawers and bins to the refrigerator.

How to Clean the Rubber Seals

If the rubber seals become dirty, the door may not close properly, making the refrigerator operate less efficiently. When cleaning the interior, be sure to clean the seals, too.

  • Step 1. Clean the seals - Use warm, soapy water and either a soft sponge or cloth to clean the seals.
  • Step 2. Remove soap suds - Wipe away any remaining soap suds or dirt particles with a damp cloth.
  • Step 3. Dry the seals - Remove any remaining moisture on the seals with a clean cloth.

Cleaning the Exterior

When cleaning the exterior of your Samsung refrigerator, don’t spray water directly onto the surface; instead, spray water onto a cloth. Also, don’t use benzene, thinner or other harsh chemicals as they can not only damage the surface but they also pose a fire hazard.

  • Step 1. Clean the digital panel and display panel - Wipe the digital panel and display panel with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
  • Step 2. Wipe the exterior - After spraying a soft cloth with warm, soapy water, wash the refrigerator exterior. Be sure to clean the doors, handles and all other exterior surfaces.
  • Step 3. Rinse the exterior - Wipe away any soap residue or dust particles with a clean, damp cloth.

How to Clean the Rear Panel

Clean the area behind your Samsung refrigerator once or twice a year. In order to avoid the risk of electric shock, don’t remove the rear panel when cleaning.

  • Step 1. Clean the rear panel - Without removing the rear panel, use a small vacuum cleaner to suck up dust and dirt from the rear panel area that protects the coils.
  • Step 2. Vacuum around the chords - When you vacuum the rear panel, don’t forget to also vacuum around the exposed chords.
